Dream occupation may seem difficult to reach, but it has a profound impact on literary creation. In ancient times, many literary masters used dreams as the theme when creating. In the history of Chinese literature, a large number of literary works based on dreams have been produced. The earliest ones, such as the Book of Songs, contain the content of writing dreams. Cao Zhi's 'Luo Shen Fu' originated from a dream, and there are also many chapters of dreams in Tang and Song poems, such as Li Bai's 'Sleepwalking on Tianmu Yin and Leaving Farewell', Li He's 'Dream Sky', Su Shi's 'Jiangchengzi'. In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, there were more operas based on dreams, such as Guan Hanqing's 'Butterfly Dream','Dream on the Red Clothes','Dream on Western Shu', etc. Tang Xianzu's world-renowned 'Linchuan Four Dreams' can be said to be a prosperous work of dream literature. His four works,'The Legend of the Purple Hairpin','The Peony Pavilion','Nanke Dream', and 'Handan Dream', all take dreams as the theme clue, and their expression techniques are also full of 'dream' colors, which is particularly expressed in 'Nanke Dream' and 'Handan Dream'.

In the Qing Dynasty, Cao Xueqin's 'Dream of the Red Chamber' pushed the literature of dreams to its peak. While describing reality, it also tries its best to create an ideal world in a dream. Reality and dream are intertwined, and readers are intoxicated by the truth and falsehood.

The artistic creation of modern writers was directly influenced by the dream-recording novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In Lu Xun's 'Diary of a Madman', Guo Moruo's 'Cancun Spring', and Mao Dun's 'Midnight', there were many descriptions of dreams. They expressed contradictions and problems in reality through writing dreams.
